Keeping the background in mind, teachers can create better lesson plans that assist in differentiated learning experiences.  In this presentation, teachers will be provided example lessons and teaching strategies.

In the classroom today, children come from various cultural backgrounds and it is important to be culturally and linguistically inclusive. Therefore, education has a great challenge for the school and community to accommodate the growing multicultural society. There are many improvements that can be made to provide a quality education for a diverse population. Even though the bilingual standards for teachers are becoming more structured and required there are many easy strategies that can be applied with a well-thought-out lesson plans.

In this session participants will be able to:

•Engage DLL/ELL students in educational activities focused on cultural differences that support their development across domains.
•Plan and model strategies and activities with families that support each child’s culture and uses these activities in class to increase children’s awareness.
•Integrate art by means of music, materials and other resources that represent children's unique cultures.
